Selling the Crown Jewels?

June 26th, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. You can also sign up for my extremely popular FREE newsletter by clicking HERE. Thanks for visiting!

Can you guess what my most popular product is?  You probably won’t be too surprised to discover it’s Mailing Lists Unleashed.

More than 1,000 copies have been sold since its release, and the feedback I received has been simply stunning. This is a 79 page ebook that delivers huge value for an affordable price.

So with this being my most successful product you’d expect I’d just sit on it and let the sales roll in for many years? Right? Wrong!

You see, I’ve always done things differently here at Lee-McIntyre.com towers and I’m not going to start changing my game plan now.

On Monday 30th June at 11am EST I’m going to do something that is bound to shock quite a few people.  And I don’t blame them for being so surprised!

I’m going to be offering an incredible opportunity that my newsletter readers will be able to grab with both hands. So what is this fantastic opportunity that will give people the ability to start turning a profit from day one?

Well buckle up because you’re in for a shock…

I’m going to sell a VERY LIMITED number of reprint licenses to Mailing Lists Unleashed meaning a few lucky readers will be able to sell this hot product as their own and keep 100% of the profits.

And no I haven’t gone crazy!

Don’t currently have a product?  Not a problem!

You’ll be able to take Maling Lists Unleashed and start selling it as your own product while pocketing all the cash.

And the good news is that this opportunity will be available for an investment MUCH less than you might imagine (hint: it’s certainly not going to cost the thousands of dollars that this package is really worth).

But the bad news is that I can only allow a select few people take advantage of this opportunity so there will be some disappointed folks out there.

I’ll save the rest of the details for Monday…

EDIT: this offer will now be going live at 11am EST on Tuesday 1st July and there’ll be a very special bonus for fast action takers too!

Different Solutions For Different People?

June 25th, 2008

Yesterday I got back from a LONG weekend in Newcastle Upon Tyne.  One of the great things about running an Internet business is the ability to work from anywhere, and I’m strongly considering moving to Newcastle for a short while.

I went to Newcastle University, I love the area, and I still have friends who live locally too.

Suddenly I feel an urge to make the most of the freedom that my Internet business provides, and so I’m looking forward to spending some time in one of my favourite cities.

In Manchester I own a house that I’m currently selling, and so in Newcastle I plan to rent for a while.  Over the weekend I looked at 7 VERY swanky city centre apartments overlooking the river, and now I can picture myself sat on the balcony, drinking beer and making money.

Are these apartments cheap? No way!

In fact, the apartment I like the most in the Baltic Quay development costs more than $2,000 a month.

I’m going to be working from home and I want to live in the city centre. I plan to do lots of writing, and so a balcony overlooking the river is enough to make me feel completely inspired.

Obviously $2,000 per month (£1,100) is a big amount, but at this stage of my life I’m more concerned with the benefits and the lifestyle than I am with the premium rental.

Let me take you back to 2001 when I was living in a student house in the same city…

At the time my main housing concern was to be living in a place that was as cheap as possible. I lived with 4 mates, and my monthly rental was just $168 (£84).

Now that might sound cheap in comparison, but trust me when I say that it felt expensive at the time! We had an amazing time of course, but if you actually saw the property you’d think we were being overcharged! :)

As a student can you imagine my reaction to the thought of paying $2,000 per month rental? I probably would have either fainted or been violently sick!

Let me explain…

The Lee from 2001 wanted cheap and cheerful, with the very minimum of thrills. My bedroom view was of a backwall containing barbed wire and broken glass and that was fine by me.

The Lee from 2008 wants a fancy bachelor pad with a plasma TV and a riverside balcony.

You see, different people have different problems needing different solutions. What would happen if you were a letting agent just selling $80 properties to a group containing people looking for a $2,000 pad?

What would be the likely outcome if you were only selling $2,000 riverside apartments to a group containing people looking for the $80 budget option?

In both examples you’d be providing just one solution to people with different problems. And that means you wouldn’t be maximising your profits, and you’d be leaving serious cash on the table.

Let’s apply this lesson to your online business…

Whatever your niche you will have some subscribers who want the budget solution. Maybe a $7 report, or possibly a $27 ebook.

You’ll also have subscribers who have more urgent problems and so who are willing to pay a premium price for a solution that delivers.

Some subscribers will want basic ‘how to’ information. Others will want toolkits and ready made solutions. Others still will want DVD sets and audio CDs.

And the solutions your individual subscribers crave will vary over time, in the exact way that the solution to my housing problem today is hugely different to in 2001.

Think about this…

Right now your list is full of people looking for different answers. The question you must ask yourself is are you providing different solutions, or are you just focussed on one problem experienced by one type of subscriber?

Let’s look at the products in my business for example…

I have a $1,000 phone mentoring program

I have a $450 email mentoring program

I sell a $240 per year membership site and forum

I sell a $197 webinar course

I sell a  $97 audio homestudy course

I sell a $37 ebook

I sell a $10 audio interview

I gave away lots of free reports.

Do you see my point?  Not all my subscribers want to spend $10 on a solution. And not all want to spend $1,000.

To maximise my profits I produce products at multiple price points and in multiple formats. Why? Because this way I’m doing my best to cater to the different segments that populate my list.

Does your online business offer different solutions to different problems? If not you’re missing out. Realise that your email list contains a varied bunch of people looking for differnet answers and you’ll make more money as a result.

And if you understand that the solution someone craves today might be different to the solution sought tomorrow you’ll find it easier to develop the range of products and services that keeps your subscribers AND your bank manager happy.

Do You Feel Inspired?

June 13th, 2008

I’m hooked on reading biographies, and I’m simply fascinated by glimpses inside the mind of people who excel in their field.

It takes a special sort of person to become utterly successful at everything they do, and the appeal of these books is considering the mindset of the person when they made the transition from dreaming to reality.

Once book that I’ve just finished reading is by Richard Branson called “Screw it Let’s Do It“. (NOT an affiliate link)

It’s not the best written book I’ve ever read but I’d still like to recommend it to you today.  It’s basically a book of stories from the life of Richard Branson, and how he used his experiences to learn valuable lessons in business.

Let me tell you that I feel inspired having read it!

If you’re struggling for motivation and want a kick to get you going again, then consider ordering this book today.

One of the biggest hurdles that many struggling marketers face is the ability to believe in themselves and to think big. Read this book and you’ll see the power and success that flows from having massive dreams and the confidence to chase the things you consider to be impossible.

Some Big Changes at Lee-McIntyre.com

May 29th, 2008

Can you believe it’s almost a year since Lee-McIntyre.com was born?

11 months ago I was a struggling high school teacher not knowing what my future would hold.  Fast forward a little and I’ve enjoyed a ride like no other.  There have been ups and downs and LOTS of hard work, and I can safely say that I’ve enjoyed every second.

Now things here are going pretty well indeed.  I have money in the bank, and every day I wake to discover yet more sales in my account.

But I’m still not happy. Why?  Because I’ve never been content resting on my laurels and I’m not going to change now!

After much careful thought I’ve decided that I’m going to push my company through a massive and sudden expansion. I have so many exciting ideas for the future, and I’m increasingly of the view that it’s simply not possible to execute them all working with a virtual team from my home office.

And because of some offline projects I have just begun, I’m also in need of a physical client facing office.

With this in mind I’ve decided that this month I’m going to be relocting my work to a nice new shiny 3 person office in town.

I’m also going to be recruiting a project manager who can come in and manage the office, oversee some projects, and coordinate with my outsource team.

Yes this is a bold move, but it’s fun to be bold every now and then don’t you think?

In one week I’m going to be advertising for a full time worker in the local press.  Before I get to that stage though I thought it might be a nice idea to post here to see if there was any interest from my readers in this position.

I’m still working out the exact details and terms of the post, but I’d love to hear if there was any reader interest before I promote this locally.

Are you potentially interested in relocating to Manchester, UK to join my company as a project manager?

If so open a support ticket here and let me know you’re interested. Please just supply some brief details including who you are, what online experience you have, and why you think you’d excel in this role.

I’ll personally reply to everyone, and if I think I’d like to hear more I’ll send you the full details in a couple of days and invite you to apply formally.  My first choice is to hire a subscriber or blog reader, so if I get enough interest I’ll cancel the proposed local media ads and just interview those who respond now.

If you have any questions let me know in the comments below.

My Thoughts On The Aweber Upgrade

May 24th, 2008

In case you missed it, Aweber recently announced that they are increasing the prices for all new customers. They’re also dramatically increasing the functionality too with the introduction of some advanced email marketing analytics.

As I currently understand the situation, all current customers will have the option to stay on their existing price plan or to upgrade to the new structure.

What’s my take on this?

Stay tuned because tomorrow I’ll be uploading a video explaining what I’ll be doing and why I’ll be doing it.

I have 11,000 subscribers in my account, and my subscription fee will increase from $40 to $149 if I upgrade to the new features.

Visit tomorrow and I’ll explain why it took me less than 10 minutes to decide what to do, and why most of the people discussing this on the marketing forums have the issue all inside out…

Does It Get Any Better Than This?

May 21st, 2008

Those who regularly read this blog will know that I’m a huge Manchester United supporter. I’ve had a season ticket since the age of 8 and have travelled all across Europe watching my team.

My favourite trip by far was to watch United play Fiorentina in Florence in 2000. The game was pants, and it finished 0-0, but the whole event was fantastic.

Myself, together with a group of 4 friends, drove down to Luton Airport and then flew to Nice.

We then got a train from Nice to Pisa, spent the day and night in a very cheap youth hostel, before then visiting Rome, before finally landing in Florence.

Yes the football was rubbish but we had a great trip and it was something I’ll never forget!

I really treasured these events as I knew that when I entered the world of work I’d be chained to my desk and I’d be unable to enjoy this type of freedom again.

And I guess this is why I really do love the Internet lifestyle…

You see, today Manchester United are playing in the final of the European Cup for only the 3rd time in our history.  And I’m so nervous I could pinch myself!

Unlike in previous years I’m not travelling to Russia to watch today’s match, but working online still gives me an incredible buzz when these events come around.

I’m meeting a group of five friends in Manchester Centre to watch the match on a big screen in our favourite bar, and it should be some night.

Yet while my friends are rushing around, feeling stressed, and trying to make sure they get into town on time, I’ll be having a relaxed day enjoying the buildup.

Is running an Internet business hard? You bet!

But it also gives you an incredible amount of freedom that is simply hard to match.

I’m writing this post at 5:15 am as I can’t  sleep as the match tonight has made me so nervous.  Soon I’ll be off to the shop to buy all the newspapers, which I’ll read over a glass of fresh orange and a bacon sandwich.

I’ll have Radio five live on in the background to soak up the big game buildup, and then at 10am I intend to walk my friend’s dog (this is so he can come straight to the pub after work).

At 12:10pm I’m having lunch with my grandad as part of our pre match routine. And then at 2pm I’m heading into Manchester to meet a friend for the first beer of the day before my other mates come down after work at 6pm.

If we win I won’t be back home until 5am tomorrow. And if we lose? Silly question as we simply WON’T lose…

What a day!

As you’ve probably guessed, it really is the simple things that keep me happy.

In my world the money is nice, but it’s the lifestyle that’s the most important of all, and that’s why I love working online so much.

If you had this kind of freedom how would you spend your time?

Would you travel the world? Would you spend time with your family? Maybe learn a new language?

Building an Internet business is hard. But the rewards are worth it in ways I cannot describe.

Today promises to be a fantastic event.  I just hope we come home with the trophy or you might not hear from me for a while!

Why Do Gremlins Only Come Out at Night?

May 15th, 2008

Two days ago I issued the access code to those Interns who had progressed to week #4.  I then went away for the day, feeling happy that this task had been completed and that my hard working Interns would be delighted with the free training.

Today however I returned to discover we had a crazy htaccess error that meant that people couldn’t login to the site. Disaster!

Why do problems only seem to happen when they are the least welcome?

I’m quite sure that if I hadn’t gone away for a day or two then everything would have been smooth sailing!

So why do the gremlins only come out at night?

I’m not sure, but the fact that serious problems only seem to develop when I go away for the day is playing havoc with my desire to live the true Internet lifestyle!

Anyway, all is now fixed and the gremlins are safely tucked up in bed.

If you’re a week 4 Intern please just register again and all will now work.  I’m also going to be giving you a very nice surprise to say thanks for the patience. :)

I’m currently hard at work trying to develop more contingency into my business so that there is a backup system when problems like this happen. I’ll let you know how I get on in the coming days and weeks….
