3 Simple Steps to Skyrocket Your Profits Today

April 21st, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. You can also sign up for my extremely popular FREE newsletter by clicking HERE. Thanks for visiting!

Want to discover a quick and simple way to boost your profits by 50% or more? Well buckle up because that’s exactly what I’m about to share with you today.

But first I want to talk about my local pizza restaurant…

You see, they sell a fantastic ‘tuna and sweetcorn’ thin crust pizza and it really does just melt in your mouth.

Heck, it’s probably one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted and I’m getting hungry just thinking about it now!

In fact I’ve probably ordered at least a dozen (or more) pizzas from this place in the last year…and I must be one of their best customers by a country mile.

But here’s something to think about…

Every week they put menu leaflets through thousands of houses in the local area. They also give out flyers in town, and place huge ads in the local paper.

Cripes, in comparison to their competitors they’re an absolute marketing machine!

They spend a fortune on advertising, but do you know how many times they’ve contacted me directly as a loyal customer?

Not one! Blimey, talk about leaving some serious money on the table…

Let me explain…

What do you think would happen if these pizza guys rang me one quiet Tuesday evening? If they thanked me for my custom and then offered me a killer special offer?

What would happen if they sent me a nice thank you card together with a coupon for a 20% discount that had to be used inside 7 days?

Well I’d be whipping open my wallet and handing over hard earned cash that’s for sure!

You see, instead of deepening their relationships with EXISTING customers they concentrate far too much on finding NEW ones.

Let me ask you this…

Which piece of marketing do you think would give the pizza shop the biggest return on its investment?

Handing out 1,000 menus to strangers in the street or sending out a time sensitive discount coupon to 100 of its highest spending customers?

Blimey, I’d bet the lot on the fact that contacting its best customers in this way, and making them feel special while offering them a discount, would produce a jumbo sized result!

And this works online too…

Why do so many marketers shuffle around trying to build a big list of new prospects without even a second thought to their EXISTING customers and subscribers?

I haven’t the foggiest why they do this and it really is marketing suicide gone mad!

Let me give you an example….

Last week I sold out my Super List Building Webinar series. I emailed just 4,253 people and I sold out all 25 spots in less than 12 hours, giving me a profit of $4,925.

You can see some screenshots below…

How was I able to do this with such a tiny list and NO affiliates or JV partners? It’s simple.

With everything I do I put a HEAVY emphasis on looking after the needs of those who have ALREADY bought from me, and not just on trying to build a big list of new prospects.

I’d rather have a list of 4,000 where I have deep relationships with my subscribers than a list of 40,000 where people can’t even remember my name.

So what does this mean for YOUR business?

It means that if you stop the maddening hunt for fresh subscribers and instead start looking after those who’ve already placed some trust in you then you’ll massively increase your profits.

I guarantee it.

Want me to get more practicle? Not a problem.

Here’s a quick 3 step plan to applying the theory above to your business today…

1) Overdeliver starting right at the time of the purchase.

Want to make your customers buy from you again? Well simply give them MORE than they expect when they buy from you in the first place!

Customers who bought my list building webinar course paid for 6 sessions.

Is that what they’ll get? No way!

You see, I wanted to give a nice thank you surprise, which is why immediately after purchase they were told they would get a bonus week for free!

Give your customers an unexpected valuable bonus as soon as they buy from you and you’ll increase your profits starting today.

2) Add a buyers autoresponder message sequence

As soon as someone buys from you they should be placed onto an autoresponder sequence for buyers only.

If you fill this with messages thanking the customer for their purchase and encouraging them to ‘consume’ the product then you’ll massively boost your profits.

Why? Because if your customers see that you care for them even AFTER they’ve made their purchase then they’ll be more likely to buy from you again in the future.

So encourage your customers to use your product. Give them tips and hints.

Give them unexpected bonuses that add yet more value. Tell them real life success stories.

Place a heavy emphasis on getting your customers to enjoy your product and they’ll reward you with more purchases in the future.

Do you currently sell a product? Do you have an autoresponder just for buyers? If not, add one today. It will be quicker to setup than you might think.

This one tip has been responsible for adding thousands to my monthly income. And that isn’t hype.

3) Offer special deals to the buyers of your product

As well as packing your autoresponder sequence full of useful help you should also include some links to related products.

Remember the story about my local pizza place? Remember how I would have responded if they’d have offered me a customer only special?

Well apply this lesson online and your profits will skyrocket!

If a customer buys product A then offer them a discount for product B. Make them feel special and let them know that the discount is only available to buyers of your product.

Want to turbo charge this tip?

Then make sure that the products you promote in this way are more expensive AND contain more value than the product you sold in the first place.

Recommending products at the backend that increase in price AND value really is the way to building the business that you dream of step by step.

Don’t have any products like this to promote at the backend? Not a problem!

Simply find someone else who does and promote this as an affiliate (hint: if you really want to take this up a notch then negotiate a discount on this product so your customers MUST buy through your link).

Okay, there you have it…

Building a big list of prospects should never be the goal of any business. The goal is to build a list of CUSTOMERS who you develop deep relationships with and who want to buy from you again and again.

Why spend time and money building a massive list of cold prospects when instead you could be profiting wildly by markting to the HOT prospects who’ve already trusted you enough to buy from you in the first place?

These people are the lifeblood of your business. Treat them as such and your business will boom.

Follow the 3 steps above starting today and you WILL increase your profits. Just remember to come back here and tell me your success stories when you do!

I have a tip for you now Lee.

Tell your local pizza place where they are losing extra trade by not keeping in touch with their existing customers and maybe they will give you a free supply of your favourite pizza.

Could be a win/win situation don’t you think?

I love pizza.. My local pizza places are both Domino’s and Pizza Hut and they deliver.

I eat about 3 a week and the misses goes mad..!!

I am on a ban at the moment and haven’t had one for about a month now.

The other day I recieved a personal postcard from Domino’s saying how much they miss me and offering me a free Garlic Bread and 20% off my next order.

    Domino’s has cracked it already.

    Great post Lee..

I might even have to get a pizza for tea…

    Yummy.

I have collected lots of information on web marketing from all the Gurus in the US and have a reasonable understanding of the different aspects of web marketing.
The 2 areas that I am not sure of and I was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction are:
    1. Do I need to work in a niche that I understand? I have not read all of your e-book (only got it today) but I gather that you are looking for the needy buyer. I work in the life insurance world and I am struggling to find a niche that would be worth targeting. Would I be better looking at other markets?
    2. I had my website built by a programmer from eLance. This took some time and I don’t have the time to do major changes but if I am to set up multiple sites with Adsense and newsletter and opt-ins etc is there a reasonably priced program that can be worked on. I have looked at xSite and it seems ok. What do you think.
    Any support would be appreciated.
    Thanks Stephen

Hi Lee, great advice again. I’ve started to follow your examples, only this morning I completed a PLR ebook and gave it to all of my subscribers to say thanks. I’ll be applying some of your methods in the next few days, but the pizza can wait till the weekend ha ha.

Lee, seriously, tuna and sweet corn??? Now a creamy garlic sauce with grilled chicken and artichoke hearts… here I come Papa Murphy’s

I know how you stay in business and how you will continue to stay in business as long as there is Internet Marketing. Customer service on steroids!

Here in the states we have a tire company - Les Schwabb - that is one of those places that you know they respect your business. We have used them forever no matter where we live. The guys treat you like you were their next door neighbor needing a hand with their car. Their price is certainly not discounted, yet not too expensive either.

But when you need a flat fixed, they roll out the red carpet. You get a coffee while you watch them through the bay window. It’s like watching a ballet! To top it off they check all the other tires and make sure all is safe before they send you off - no charge. Even better - on a trip out of town I had a car with a flat that was not even their tire. I mean they didn’t know me from Joe. I fully expected to be charged but no, it’s like they don’t even have a fee schedule for fixing a flat tire!

Who do I recommend for tires, brakes and front end work - Les Schwabb!! What’s more I am going to practically go door to door telling folks about the service I got. I don’t even need to get paid - I am just plain thrilled about the customer service and think everyone else should get in on it, too.

Do you know why it has so easy to write up your newsletter in a blog and on Squidoo? I am that loyal customer going door to door (sort of) braggin on your service.

Well, I won’t write a book on it, but, son, you got this golden rule of customer service thing down pat. and I know it’s the genuine article too. For that, sir, I am blessed to know you.

    Hi Lee,

Your emphasis on quality rather than quantity mailing lists has given me hope that I can achieve success in the IM business.
My mailing list is growing, hopefully with quality, but has some way to go before its a useful size.
Many thanks for the info you share with us.
    Best regards,

    Hi Lee,

Great post but that is not unusual.

I would like to address Stephen. This may be a bit odd but I can’t help but tell you that the best investment you could make would be to join Standing Start Profits.

Besides all the help from Lee, you will have the advantage of a wealth of knowledge from the people there. Their friendly, helpful manner can not be topped.

Having just started in Oct. 2007, I am light years ahead of where I would have been without SSP.

    Lee,

Another priceless tip from you again

Yep, I agree. There are just too many marketers and businesses out there focusing too much on attracting new customers when their existing customers are actually ready to hand over their money. And yes, that includes me too. So I better start applying your tips starting right now!

    Hi Lee

Like the idea of including extra content as a bonus, it’s something that you could also give use as a gift for buying a related affiliate product through your link.

Not sure about putting Tuna on a pizza, I think that you should stick to a simple vegetarian supreme

    Hi Lee,

You never fail to provide valuable content. I love you pizza example.

I guess the problem with marketer today is that they own too many list that they had problem handling all the different list at one time and that is why some of them are neglected.

I am sure your way are a better to build an online business.

    Great post!

Good advice if you have customers . Not much use though, if you haven’t.

Very good advice. I often think when I see huge adverts in newspapers - and all the inserts that fall out - that someone must be missing a trick. I think we forget how much we learn about Internet marketing that could revolutionize some high street businesses.

    I’m with you on that!

Other than the tuna breath, great post, Lee.

Well, as my Sis is the Regional Manager for PizzaHut UK Limited for Warwickshire - I luckily have all the FREE Pizzas I want!

As for your post, you hit the nail on the head there Lee.

This is why the average list respone rate of 2-3% only applies to what is in a nutshell “poor marketers” - and you can probably count me in on that one!

The term poor marketers, is what I call marketers who opt for quantity not quality, and rely on HUGE lists of say 15,000+ to target the few hundred or so “loyal” buyers to make a big income.

A few hundred loyal buyers is all you need to create a super profitable business.

    Im actually impressed Lee…

(A little tip for your readers - Google Jim F Srraw, he is a friend of mine and he talks in a scarily similar way to you on this subject Lee.

    All the best,

    Ray

    Hi Lee

You’ve got me thinking about my local Italian Restaurant now!

Anyway I’m not quite ready to try out your ideas - although today, I have got my very first subscriber EVER to a mailing list - so I’m pretty chuffed!

My site has been up for about a week. All I’ve done so far is a video on Youtube and one on eBay. My first opt-in has arrived from my eBay classified ad so I’m really made up. (To be honest bearing in mind the recent financial doom and gloom re property etc my idea will probably struggle - but I’ll give it a go anyway and start some extra ideas too)

Anyway I’m off to email my very FIRST opt-in guy to get some feedback (he’s also called Dave………no I didn’t opt in to my own list!)

Thanks for your ideas - they’re very motivational!

    Best wishes - Dave
