A New Focus For Lee-McIntyre.com!

Last week I talked about how I was really struggling to decide whether to concentrate on being a teacher or a marketer.  The explosion in business here at Lee-McIntyre.com has meant that it’s certainly not possible to do both anymore.

Well, I’ve been wrestling with this issue for quite some time, and I’ve finally reached a conclusion.

I want to become a full time marketer!

After the supportive messages over the past few days, I’ve finally decided to go for it. I figure that I can get the enjoyment out of teaching others how to build their online business and by doing some part time volunteering classroom work too.

So what do you think?

Am I crazy or sensible?  Is this the decision that will I look back on with fondness or regret?

I’d love to hear your opinions on this as always.  Hit reply below and let rip.  And I promise to reply to ALL of your replies personally too…..

Please share your opinions below now!

Hi Lee you have made the right decision, why? because if you stay in teaching, very many times over the coming years the question “what if” would have come to haunt you.
I cannot see you failing with us (members) pulling and shoving you all the way,in the next ten years you”ll be a overnight success.
To quote the lad himself Tony Hancock “if at first you don”t succeed turn it in mate you”re in the wrong job”.
    Best wishes Lee

well, i just think it is strange that making money has overshadowed your love of teaching.
you have mentioned in the past that you would never leave the classroom. i think school age children need help more than a bunch of us adults wanting to make a million.
why can’t this be a sideline to your teaching?

Lee, I am glad to see you have been able to come to a decision that you are comfortable with. I knew that by thinking out of the box, you would see that you can still make an impact ‘in’ the classroom whether you were there a full 40 hour week or less. It is your heart that makes the difference, and you will give your best to your students wherever you are. You just seem to be that kind of teacher. Congratulations!

It really does not matter what other people think. IF this is what feels right for you, THEN, ipso facto, it is right for you. What is right for one person might be very wrong for another.
That is why listening to what other people have to say can be counter-productive. ‘What other people have to say’ is, in my experience, a projection of their mind-set, which can range from emotions of exuberant passion, whereby your experience is their vicarious experience to the other extreme, the projection of a raft of negativity through which they have immobilised their dreams and seek to do the same to yours.

The real questions for you to consider are ‘where is your heart, your passion’, ‘what is it you wish to achieve in your life’, ‘what are your dreams’, and ‘what do you wish to hold yourself accountable for?’ Do due diligence on these questions, seek your heart and then place upon yourself, as they say in copywriting circles, a ‘massive call to action’ and do it.

Reflect that our lives are an unfolding path, and unfinished work, each experience lends enrichment to the next experience and so forth, one purpose of which is to come to know, trust and express our own true nature. This can only be achieved by actually stepping out, and realising our dreams, passions and desires, these are the very things we need to act on in order to grow. Conversely, subjugating these to the opinions of other people, or the dictates of our upbringing and social networks, leads to frustration with self, alienation from self and ultimately stagnation and mortification of self.

All I can say really, is stuff what others think, be accountable only to yourself and for your immediate dependants, find your heart, do due diligence, and then follow your heart, and ultimately the path to self knowledge, i.e. go for it. Who knows where you will end up? That anyway is probably not the issue. It is how you end up as a person that matters. Teaching has been one way out of many possible ways that you have expressed yourself to date, now may well be the time for a new mode of expression. That however is for you and only you to decide. Rest assured that whatever decision you make will be right, because it is YOU making the decision.

No contest! I’ve taught for 35 years and believe me it does not get any easier with the the passing of the years. With all the new initiatives that come along each year the job becomes increasingly demanding of your time. I find myself wishing away my last two years before retirement.

You will know Lee, that if you are committed to teaching and do the job well, you will not have much time for “sidelines.” Grab the opportunity that lies before you and get out of teaching now. You won’t regret it. As Randy said in an earlier posting, “there’s always supply work” - if you must!

That’s great news Lee. You’ll never be crazy, just do what you are comfortable with. As Randy said, you’ll still be teaching people doing what you love to do. I know its not the same as teaching kids, but there are still some of us who are relatively young ;) who could be your “substitute classroom students” :D. Anyways, as your loyal subscriber and customer I will always support you in whatever you decide to do.

Lee, even though it may be scary to leave a sure thing as far as income is considered, it looks as though you have learned how to secure an income via the internet. Besides you truly want to make the change so go for it.

While I think it is important and beneficial to have male teachers especially in Junior High, either your teaching or your internet business is going to get less attention than it deserves as your internet business continues to grow. As a retired teacher I know how often teachers must bring their work home with them. Teaching is not an 8 to 5 job.

Besides have you considered that as you continue to mature your internet business you could develop programs to teach teenagers to make money on the internet. Education is so important, but have you noticed that our children do not receive any education on how to make and handle money. At least here in the USA they are told to go to college so they can get a good job. Even if they do secure the “good job” most don’t know how to manage their money. Additionally the women are trying to do it all, be a wife, mother, and have a job.

Congratulations on making a decision so you can focus on your work.

    Hi Lee,

I think you’re doing the right thing. Your passion for teaching has simply evolved & shifted into another arena. You’re clearly driven by helping yourself & others to build a business to be proud of & to create a better life for ourselves. This passion shines through in the various ways you present yourself online.

I can say as a pupil of yours that it’s been both a pleasure & a privilege to be taught by you so far. I for one am looking forward to the full time Mr. McIntyre. Though I guess us Poles should be quaking in our boots at the thought of our arch enemy “hyphen-the-terrible” unleashing his full SSP fury upon us. ;)

Good luck to you mate & here’s to a bright future for all of us…

    Hi Lee,
Good for you man….Best decision you could have made for YOU and US(right guys and gals?).. You are the best narketer I have come in contact with since I started this earlier this year…your information is real and actually HELPS! Some of these so called gurus are only interested in themselves and how much they put in their bank accounts…..God knows, there is really nothing wrong with that(Hell..I would love to be doing it) and it would be okay IF they were giving you ALL the secrets you needed to succeed..but they are greedy and dont give it all up.

You, my man are different and a BREATH OF FRESH AIR to this industry…You give QUALITY, QUANTITY and REAL honest to goodness info that does HELP! I know my fellow members will totally agree with me on that point.

Please keep up the great work Lee…and I am excited with the fact YOU will be doing this crazy business FULL TIME!! I cant wait to see your latest creation…and just know that i will be buying it…I just bought Auction Profits Unleased and I am half way through it..and all I can say is WOW! It is a must read……and feel free to use my testimonial at any time.

Lets make Lee-McIntyre.com the BIGGEST Success EVER….You deserve it man!

    Cheers Lee

Lee, I think you are making a great decision. I am also in the education field as a classroom assistant for kids with learning disabilities and autism, but I would love to quit to run my business full time. I do not think I am at that point yet but hope to be soon. Running and internet business while helping others is awesome! Good luck to you!

    Lee;
A “Teachers Heart” is still a teachers heart, in a classroom or on line.
All I would ask is that you continue to keep the image of real students in your mind while you work online. I see several lose that and simply spill out what is working inside of them at the moment, instead of considering what the ‘Student’ can absorb and put to use in their life, or online business.
Without ‘Students’ and some sort of ‘measuring scale’ a teacher has emptiness in the classroom or on the screen and email room.

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the fantastic advice! I’ve been sat here for a few hours, while mulling things over in my mind. One thing that I AM sure about is that everyone here has helped me through this process by leaving such great advice.

I’ve been busy speak to friends and family over the past couple of days. I’m still not 100% sure in my mind about what I want to do, but I’m getting there.

Thanks again to EVERYONE for the inspiring comments! You’ve made it all so much easier :)

    Lee,

    You should go for it!

My sister is a Biology Teacher, holidays are great, but plenty stress etc.

You do not need four walls and class in front of you to teach.

At 27, you could retire by 35 years if you continue in the same vain.

You got to be in it to win it !

    Good Luck

    Thanks for the post :)

Congratulations, Lee. I’m sure you’re doing the right thing.
Bob Jenkins, over in the states, made a similar decision a couple of months ago. (He’s responsible for TeachersInBusiness.com, bobtheteacher.com and SquidooSecrets.com, )
    He wrote:

“June 20, 2007 will be my last day as a high school teacher. I’ve determined it’s time for me to go full time with my online teaching and mentoring business.
As a full time internet marketing coach and business trainer, I know I’ll have a much larger impact on the world.
For the last 10 years, I’ve loved working with students in the classroom. And, truthfully, I know I will miss the connections made with the 120 students I teach each year.
However, I recognize that there are more people in the world I can help on a regular basis. And because of that, I’m committed to enter a new stage of life.”

I wish you every success - and that’s not just because I am one of many who (hopefully) stand to gain from your decision!

Lee, I am retired at the end of a career working for other people. In many ways that has meant working for idiots and if I had my time again and also for the time left to me, I am going to work for myself. I strongly advise you to do the same especially as you have such obvious talent.

    Hi Lee,

I have only worked as an employee for one year, and during that year I started my first business.

I have been self-employed (or director of my company) ever since and I would never go back to working for anyone else.

I dont think you’ll regret doing IM full-time, and you can always go back to teaching in the future if you want and you will then have additional knowledge to pass on to your students from the experience you have gained.

    Remember ‘He Who Dares Wins!’
(I heard you were an ‘Only Fools and Horses’ fan)

    Best of Luck,

    Keith

Lee…I’m glad you decided to move your teaching to another arena. Internet Marketers need a lot of support and good advice…that’s teaching of one form or another. You are good at it.

I’ve always followed my heart and never regretted it. I believe you will feel the same, too. Your SSP Forum is fantastic…alive and vibrant…a shining example of your vision.
