One of the things that I often hear people say is that launching a new product is hard work. And you know what? They’re right!
I’m currently hard at work getting Project New Web ready for a likely Thursday mini launch to my newsletter readers, and to say that I have a big ‘to do’ list would be an understatement.
There’s always so much to do when getting ready to release a product, and I always end up frantically completing tasks minutes before we go live. One thing that I’ve learned over the last few months is that it’s impossible to do it all, which is why I’m now outsourcing more and more of the work involved in launching a new product.
Look below for the work I’ve outsourced today alone…
1) My support desk was manned by Bev in South Africa
2) Alex in Poland is customising a script
3) A guy in Bali is mastering some Audio
4) Someone from Romania designed me a logo
5) Graphics Genie in the UK and Australia designed me an ecover
6) And I received training from the US on how to use a new script I’ve bought
Now that’s a lot of outsourcing for one day and my Instant Messenger has been pinging in my ear non stop for hours!
Outsourcing in this way is a fantastic way to get more done in a shorter period of time, but it certainly creates a few challenges of its own when you’re doing so much at once.
I’ve found some great people over the last few months which helps things go more smoothly, but dealing with 6 people in 5 continents, speaking multiple languages is a challenge and a half.
Today I’ve paid people in North America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. That’s pretty crazy when you reflect on it don’t you think?!
I’ll let you know how it all works out provided I can get away from my flashing messenger devices for more than a few seconds…

Is it really that hard to talk to that many people Lee. I manage doing that quite a lot…
Was that US Military Training Lee? (Oh, just noticed you meant a script)
I can’t wait to see what Project New Web has to offer. Keep us posted Lee.
Thanks
Mark
I thought I had it hard this week! But there’s always someone worse off than yourself!
I experienced a small taste of this “franticness” for the first time on a much much smaller scale earlier this week & I was tearing my hair out! I think I need to outsource too!
I wish you all the best Lee & hope it all goes smoothly! Looking forward to Project New Web!
Good luck!

I am not outsourcing anything but I plan to in the future. Meanwhile I have been coaching my sister on some basic Internet concepts as she wants to sell her skills and expertise in the Internet realm. I have set her a few projects and she is already outsourcing some of the work. She learns fast!
I would love to be in a position to outsource…my kids that is
i get very little done when they are around, and i have so much to do.
You dont need luck with the launch i suspect it is already a success before you have even released it
But i bet it will be very good;-)
