Boost Your Profits With My Thank You Page Secrets

by Lee McIntyre on December 1, 2007

Below I’ve made a free video showing you how the use of ‘thank you page’ links have helped me earn a lot of extra money, and then lose it just as quickly!

I was going to post this video yesterday but server problems caused a slight delay. Why is it that technology always goes wrong when you need it the most?!

Anyway, enjoy the free video and make sure let me know what you think in the comments below too…I’d love to hear from you!

Lee,

Loved the video. Adding links to my thank-you pages is not something I’ve ever done in case people thing I’m rude or pushy, but obviously I’m leaving money on the table. So maybe I just need to try it.

Thanks!

I almost thought you’re going to say more links made you more money on the ‘thank you’ page! Yes, more links do dilute attention.

Another way to increase sales conversion is to say something like “if you buy from this page and only today…(use a dateline generator) you get these extra bonuses not seen elsewhere…”

The idea is to create scarcity/rarity so prospects will have to make decisions on the spot.

Nice video :)

Lee – Thank you for the great video!
I also would have thought several were better to hopefully hit something they were interested in.

Your information was well presented and timely.

I think a possibility would be to split test if you had 2 offers you thought were appropriate and then go with the winner.

What do you think about banners [125x125] on the bottom of thankyou pages etc. I’ve seen them [& clicked on them] so I think I might try them out.

Keep making videos & sharing them with us! We really appreciate tips to learn that have worked for you.

Have a great day!

Great Content Lee,

I bet some would package this – give it a fancy name and charge $10 or more for it…..lol

;)

Cheers

Hi Lee, I just love your style: keep those wonderful videos coming.

When I first came across your selection of 4 products, I had a real problem. Which one? I even thought to email you and ask where a newbie should start. Result? I couldn’t decide then so I didn’t buy anything. (I did buy a few days later, though)

When there’s only one item, it’s a simple yes/no choice.

Best from DownUnder,

Mike

Hi Lee

This is a tactic that Ewen Chia gives away in his brandable report for Super Affiliate Weapon.

When you provide affiliate tools for your products you should provide some pre-written html code so all the affiliate has to do is copy and paste.

My top affiliates at listbanditexpert have added this code to their members area, so it works really well.

If you do it for mailing list unleashed I’d add it to my bonus page as it ties in really well with my free report.

Gosh, I have been struggling with this. I’m working on the download page for my first book. My problem has been finding a product that I want to put there. Now that I can feel comfortable in just putting one (seems like most pages are full)it might move me along.

As a real newbie, I can tell you that I seldom buy when there are so many. Have limited funds and don’t want to repeat mistakes made in past.

Thanks for taking the time to share this Lee… it’s something I’ve seen done when I buy ebooks but the penny didn’t drop *(~

When I’m downloading an ebook I suppose I’m focused on reading what I’ve just paid for … must take more notice of the sale process techniques in future!

I like your presentation style too … can tell you’re a teacher!!

Hi Lee

That was great I have three websites and
never thought of that concept which I could
introduce each website customer to another
through a link on my thank for ordering page.

Looking forward to more.

Wow. I was thinking of doing that and you’re video made me realize I was going to post way too many links on it. That’s awesome! Thanks for the free tips!

Hi, Lee! Thanks for a great video!

I run a niche blog (website and seperate blog) dedicated to the old time classic actor Errol Flynn, a hobby of mine that is relaxing and fun. I am now adding a few links and search boxes that will monetize my sites to help keep them running.

After viewing your video I realised I have a Thank You page as well as an Error Page that is seen after someone sends me a comment about the website side.

So your advice can be applied to other types of Thank You pages, as well.

In this case, I added a search box for Amazon.com that is an affiliate link for me to both pages because of your video.

I also run an affiliate Amazon Unbox on my Main Page that allows viewers to instantly download and watch the latest movies and TV show episodes for as low as .99 cents or to buy DVD’s. Last week, I watched an episode of Bionic Woman this way before it aired on cable, in fact!

Wouldn’t that look attractive on a Thank You page for a product?

My thought here is that you may be able to make extra income from a search box that offers more than just one additional product and is searchable using your idea of putting an extra link on a Thank You or Download page, and why shouldn’t Thank You email pages also be used this way?

Great stuff!

David~

$2 isn’t actually much. What exactly are you promoting

15 John Naylor December 2, 2007 at 12:48 am

Hi Lee.

More words of wisdom from the guy who likes to give.

I find you inspirational.

Long may you continue to put those ‘gurus’ in the shade.

I believe that the only way to truly learn a subject is to teach it, and we only can really keep what we are prepared to give away.

You are walking the walk.

John.

Thanks everyone for the fantastic comments.

It would be easier to do what many other marketers do and just fire off a promotion, but I really enjoy making these videos and I’m glad others enjoy watching them too!

Hi Rare – the $2 is the extra profit per unit I sold from people buying recommended products. So if I sold 1,000 products the extra commission from this link would be $2,000.

The amount paid on average everytime a user cliked the link was more like $2.80. That’s an absolutely fantastic return per click!

Karen – good question! I have a feeling that a well positioned text link would outperform a banner in this arena, but it’s certainly something to test. Great idea though. :)

Carol – thanks for the input and glad to help. I’d certainly recommend adding just one link to the thank you page, but I share your desire to add more.

It’s hard to accept that less links will earn more money, and it’s a powerful instinct to add more.

Good luck getting your page up and I hope the video was useful. :)

Hi David – thanks for the comments and some excellent points. I think one of the things I’ve learned recently is to just try things you might not expect to work and you might be shocked by the results.

Glad you liked the video :)

Thanks to everyone else who has posted a comment. I love that people get involved on this blog and long may it continue!

Thanks for the comments and keep them coming…

Thanks again for more great content Lee. I’m just getting started and so testing and tracking gets put on the back burner at the moment. I know it’s important to leverage your sales like this though. So thanks for doing the testing for us and sharing your findings!

Sometime you just have to be pushy I suppose! But well explained as ever!

20 April December 2, 2007 at 8:48 pm

Hi Lee,

Thank you so much for all your help. As I am just about to make a thank you page the video was very helpful.

It would be great if you made some more!

Thanks again,

April
