Why Do Gremlins Only Come Out at Night?

Two days ago I issued the access code to those Interns who had progressed to week #4.  I then went away for the day, feeling happy that this task had been completed and that my hard working Interns would be delighted with the free training.

Today however I returned to discover we had a crazy htaccess error that meant that people couldn’t login to the site. Disaster!

Why do problems only seem to happen when they are the least welcome?

I’m quite sure that if I hadn’t gone away for a day or two then everything would have been smooth sailing!

So why do the gremlins only come out at night?

I’m not sure, but the fact that serious problems only seem to develop when I go away for the day is playing havoc with my desire to live the true Internet lifestyle!

Anyway, all is now fixed and the gremlins are safely tucked up in bed.

If you’re a week 4 Intern please just register again and all will now work.  I’m also going to be giving you a very nice surprise to say thanks for the patience.

I’m currently hard at work trying to develop more contingency into my business so that there is a backup system when problems like this happen. I’ll let you know how I get on in the coming days and weeks….

Free Marketing Classroom Intern Progression

Well the Free Marketing Classroom Intern program is going from strength to strength, and the feedback we’re receiving from those going through the program has been incredible.

Has it all been plain sailing?  Not a chance!

In fact, we’ve had some pretty serious bumps along the way.

So far I’ve now had more than 450 people sign up for week 1 of the program, and the sheer volume of work being submitted each day has caused a few issues here and there.

But dealing with these unexpected problems is what business is all about, and have too many Interns enjoying the program is certainly a nice issue to have!

If you’re an Intern waiting for progression to the following week this will be processed early on Wednesday.  Week 4 promises to be special and I think you’re going to enjoy!

Cripes We Have a Super Big Problem and Massive Crisp Sandwich

As part of my Free Marketing Classroom course, Interns have to ghostwrite an entry for this blog.

They spend some time reading my posts and then try and write in my ‘voice’.  They’re encouraged to try and use my expressions, and to imagine that it was me writing the content.

The resulting work has been pretty shocking (in a good way!)

Out of a sample of 20 ghostwritten posts 19 contained the word ‘cripes’.  I don’t know where they got that from as I don’t say that on this blog do I?

17 contained the work ‘heck’.

11 had some mention of visiting the pub.

10 contained the work ‘crikey’.

8 talked about the Mancunian weather.  6 talked about drinking beer and eating lamb burgers.

4 talked about crisp sandwiches!

And 13 had the expression “cripes no!” at least twice.

Let me tell you now that reading 20 blog entries written in my voice is a pretty odd thing to do.  I found myself agreeing with the posts and feeling as though I had written them myself.

It’s a bit disorientating too…

There were a couple of posts that I was SURE I’d written, although all the evidence was to the contrary!

And the slighly depressing (and exciting) thing is that many Interns do a better job of writing in my voice than I do!

Anyway, I’m off to eat a crisp sandwich while watching a Manchester United DVD while drinking beer and complaining about the rain…

100% Intern Success Rate And A Pile of Problems

When I recently launched by free Intern program I really didn’t know what to expect. I had no ideas how many people would actually do the tasks, and I had even less idea how people would react to the opportunity.

Let’s just say that the reaction has been hugely positive and I’ve been shocked by the workrate AND the quality.

I don’t say this lightly but the work of my Interns FAR exceeds that of any paid contractor I might find on a freelance site.  The quality has been simply incredible.

Let me tell you that the vast majority of marketers in my Intern program are extremely talented and have a fantastic work ethic too.

At the end of every week Interns have to apply to move to the next week in the process.  My assistant reviews the work they’ve done, and then makes a decision about whether they can progress based upon criteria that I give.

This isn’t theory. Interns are actually working on my business in real time which is why I insist that my assistant check each application carefully before deciding if they can progress or not.

If an Intern is doing sub standard work then I simply can’t allow them to continue as the risk to my reputation is just too high.

But here’s where it gets REALLY interesting…

I’ve had over 100 Interns request access to week 2.  And do you know how many I’ve had to reject?  Not one!

The standard has blown me away and I feel double happy that every Intern who has requested progression has submitted incredible work.

This has created a few problems though…

Because so many Interns have been completing the work to a high standard we’ve been swamped with progression applications and a slight bottleneck developed.

The good news is that we’ve now managed to clear this, and so all applications for progression will be processed within the next 24 hours.

It’s been a bit of a problem but it’s a nice problem to have!

(it’s a much better problem than Interns doing no work for example!)

Anyway, if you’re waiting for a reply then please hang in there for another 24 hours….I’m coming for you as we speak.

Thanks to EVERYONE who has participated in the Intern program.  Organising this project has been a double challenge but each nice comment makes it feel worthwhile….

Another 77 Mins of FREE Video Training Added to the Pot

Congratulations to the Interns who’ve progressed through week 1 and have now applied to join week 2.

The standard of work has been super high and it’s a pleasure to welcome so many talented marketers to the next stage of the training process.

Intern Appreciation

I just wanted to make a short post to say thank you to the Interns who are currently learning lots and working hard as part of the Free Marketing Classroom program.

The work submitted has been stunning and I’m very grateful for the brilliant efforts!

Every task has been completed to such a high standard and I really can’t wait to get started with week 2.

A few Interns have already completed the activities for week 1 and they will be getting access to week 2 sometime tomorrow. I’m super excited about the training and tasks I have lined up…and hopefully the Interns will like them too.

The Intern program is currently full but I expect to be reopening it again late this week.

Free Internet Business Intern Update

A few days ago I opened up a free Internet business intern program and the response was overwhelming.

Less than 4 hours after opening up this program I removed the link due to so many people joining in a short space of time.

Why did I do that? It’s simple…

This is a new program and I wanted to limit the numbers who joined in the first week so that I could make sure the system was running 100% smoothly.

Free Video Training That Doesn’t Costs a Cent?

Instead of learning about how to sell from a book they were actually out there trying to get local businessmen to part with their cash.

Instead of learning about the importance of good customer service from a Powerpoint presentation they were actually taking an ear bashing from an elderly customer for not giving correct change.

They still learned from the textbook of course, but the whole process of ‘hands on’ learning in this way allowed them to outperform their peers by leaps and bounds.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I strongly believe in ‘learning by doing’ which is why I’m excited to launch a FREE training Intern program.

What the heck is an intern program? Put simply it’s a free training program where you learn by doing.

Instead of paying to receive the video training, you agree to work on my business for 1-2 hours a day 5 times a week….and in return you get free training that others are charging thousands for.
