How long do you think it took Tara to send this? Probably a few minutes at the most.

And how much do you think it cost? Probably no more than a dollar or so.

Even though this was quick, easy, and cheap to mail out it still had a powerful impact when I opened it.

I was deeply grateful that someone had taken the time to send this to me, and I felt a sudden urge to reciprocate in some way.

How? By ordering more transcriptions and referring more customers!

This is powerful stuff.

Are you following up with your customers as much as you should?

Well the answer is a huge YES.

I really believe that teaching is what I was born to do and I loved every second of being in the classroom.

In my last school I taught more than 300 children each week and the difference you’re able to make to their lives is nothing short of incredible.

Nothing beats sharing what you know with a bunch of young people and then having a sense of accomplishment that you’ve actually made a difference.

Below you can see a couple of pictures of my classroom on the day I stopped being a full time teacher…

Yes I do miss being a teacher BUT I love what I do now even more.

Why? Well now I get to teach thousands of people and not just hundreds.

Yeah it’s a different type of teaching, but the overall sense satisfaction from knowing I’ve helped someone towards their goal is just the same.

I still do volunteer work in local schools too, and no matter what my future holds this is something I’d never be able to stop.

In my view people try and sell in the ‘business opportunity’ market for all the wrong reasons.

I think one of the reasons I’ve been so successful so fast in this market is because I pride myself on being a teacher first and a marketer second. The money is great of course, but what use is money if you’re not happy?

Teaching is what motivates me. It’s what makes me happy.

And understanding this enables me to be more productive, create more value, earn more money and have more fun!

What motivates you? If you don’t know the answer then spend some time focussing on what is your “treasure at the end of the rainbow” and increased profits will surely follow…

It was taken in May 2007 and in my hand I had my first ever Clickbank cheque.

I was so excited to receive this that I just had to have myself photographed holding it before I ripped open the envolope. I was absolutely ecstatic!

It seems such a long time ago but I think the cheque was for a total of $300, and was the result of launching my Classroom Management ebook for the first time.

So why I am showing you this?

Well, when this photo was taken the act of earning $300 from Clickbank seemed equivalent to climbing Mount Everest. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to do this and I was simply amazed that it was possible to earn such amounts.

==> Three months later and I’d quit my day job.

==> Six months later and I’d recorded my first $20,000 month.

==> Sixteen months later and soon I hope to hit the $40,000 a month mark (I’m not there yet but will be soon).

When I held this cheque I didn’t even dare dream that any of this would be possible.

Seeing this picture again reminds me how people laughed when I told them I was going to sell information products online. How they scoffed when I explained how I would love to quit my day job and work from home…

Despite the challenge ahead I never gave up and I always believed.

Sometimes your biggest dreams can come true if you arm yourself with persistence, determination, and an unshakeable belief that you WILL succeed no matter what.

I believed in myself and magical things happened.

When your business is speeding along and you don’t have anyone to give you a kick up the backside then it become easy to have a few lazy days. And if you’re not careful those lazy days turn into lazy months.

Let me share with you how I keep myself motivated…

In my business I set myself really tough targets and then make a decision on how I will reward myself when I reach that goal. You might have noticed my fancy looking apartment in my first face to face video.

The reason I was able to move into this nice home was because I had a double tough target, and I promised myself that if I worked hard and achived this goal I’d move into a place with a 20ft+ balacony with views over the city.

Had I NOT set the target and promised myself a reward then I have no doubt my business wouldn’t have grown as fast.

But setting yourself tough (but reachable) targets is only one half of the equation.

The second part of this formula is to constantly make sure you confront your progress on a daily basis….even if you’re doing rubbish.

Everyday I have James give me a sheet showing the sales for the prior day. If we’ve only done a few hundred dollars in sales in the prior day (it happens) then I still insist he gives me the sheet.

Why? Because confronting my reality in this way helps allows me to know exactly how my business is doing and what needs to be done to move it forward.

If you want to build your business faster then I strongly recommend that you do the following now…

#1 Set yourself a tough (but reachable) target that you can measure

#2 Set yourself a deadline when this target has to be achieved

#3 Confront your reality on a daily basis and make sure you spend at least five minutes per day looking at your progress to your target (even if it’s not going well).

If you do these 3 things today then you’ll grown your business faster as a result.

And this brings me nicely to my Ferrari chart…

I’m not sure if a Ferrari is actually what I would buy (maybe a boat instead) but below you can see an image of what I call the “Ferrari chart” .

Everyday I stare at this big fat ZERO and confront my reality. When the number gets to 1,000 (which will be HARD but we can do it) then I’m getting a Ferrari (or a boat).

This is my current goal and I’m going to work hard to achieve it. Follow the instructions above and create your own Ferrari/Boat/Debt Free/Working from home/ chart and you’ll get more done faster. I absolutely guarantee it.
