How Spending $172.67 Made My Server Buckle

In my last post I discussed how the ask me a question contest had caused a large increase in traffic. The good news is that the traffic increase is continuing, and currently shows no sign of slowing down.
The email I sent to the Lee McIntyre Newsletter readers has caused a massive traffic spike, however this will obviously be a temporary situation. Many of my subscribers though have proceeded to blog about the ask me a question post, and this is acting as a catalyst for more people to find my blog.
This is turning into quite an interesting experiment, and it’s fascinating to see the impact of the excitement caused by my initial post ripple around the blogshere.
You can see a screenshot of my traffic as represented by Alexa below...

Obviously this peak will be short lived, but I’m extremely curious to know how many of my new readers I can retain in the future. My blog post has caused a large wave of excitement and optimism, but it’s natural that this will translate into a short term traffic burst, and the really interesting observation will be my traffic levels once the dust has settled.
It’s interesting times here at Lee-McIntyre.com towers, and rest assured that I’ll keep you informed as the rest of this traffic generation experiment plays out….
