Do you currently run a blog using Wordpress? If not why not? You really should start blogging today.
If you do use Wordpress then I want to ask if you’ve started using the Post Timestamp feature.
It’s a cracking little piece of kit that’s built into your Wordpress admin panel…and once you start using it you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
So what does it do?
Basically it allows you to schedule posts and have them appear in the future. No longer do you have to be the one pushing the ‘publish’ button as your posts go live, and instead you could be doing something much more fun.
And the best part is that it’s a complete breeze to set up too.
Do you see the picture at the top of this post?
Well when you write your next post in Wordpress you’ll notice this next to the place where you type your entry. It’s worth noting that you might find this in a different spot depending on which version of Wordpress you’re using.
To make your posts appear in the future simply tick the ‘edit timestamp’ function, and then select the date and time when you want your post to appear.
Then click ‘publish’ and that’s it!
As if by magic your post will appear while you’re off galivanting and having fun.
And just to show that I’m getting into the swing of things, you didn’t think I’d post about this topic while I’m sitting at my PC did you? Cripes no!
In fact I’m out of the house having fun at the very moment this puppy goes live.
The first person to guess EXACTLY where I am and what I’m doing wins a special prize.
(HINT: This post went live at 11:15am on Sunday 22 March and I’ve dropped a few clues over the past few days what I might be doing)
Post your guesses below and the first person to get it exactly right wins a prize. You might want to note that I won’t actually be around to publish the comments until I get back.

Hi Lee,
I love the timestamp feature. I swear by it for one of my other blogs which I try to post to every other day. Obviously it’s not practical to always be there so instead of making the posts every other day I try to write a bulk of them and then schedule them at 2 day intervals. Brilliant feature and I second your recommendation for other Wordpress users to start using it.
As for what you are doing…with it being Manchester United vs Liverpool I am guessing you are on your way to Old Trafford as this post goes live. Am I right?
Happy Easter Lee.
I do use the Wordpress Timestamp. It’s what gives me my weekends off without anyone knowing. Well I guess they will know now won’t they.
I also have started to create a series of posts while my brain is in gear but I don’t want to store them and put them on my blog on the day I want them to appear. Instead I use the timestamp feature to time them so they appear a day or two apart.
The Wordpress Timestamp feature is one of my favortie built-in feature.
You’re in the pub for a pre-game pint as Man U prepare to get a much deserved beating from Liverpool
I’d guess judging by a few of your posts Lee you’d be having a quick pint in the pub before watching the United v Liverpool match.
It’s certainly what I’d be doing!
Nigel
Hi Lee
Luckily you are not the only one with a systemitised business these days to take days off to watch the footy
As a DIE HARD Liverpool fan myself, I’m on my laptop right now, heading to Old Trafford myself!
Predictions 2-1 to LFC! Torres, Gerrard…
(…if I see you at the ground I MIGHT by you a cold one – just change your United shirt first won’t you?
If there’s anything you need let me know. All the best and to your continued success…
P.S. I will be getting an VIDEO email sent to you to your Helpdesk, hope to hear from you after the footy…
Ray
Bet you’re on vacation. Hope you’re having fun.
This one’s for me!
(Great idea with using that WP feature Lee, I haven’t tried it myself yet!)
So, down to your plans…
Your away to watch Manchester United playing Liverpool at Old Trafford today!
You’ll be meeting up with a few of your friends and going for a beer before hand, then heading off to the actual game.
(I know Mascherano got 2 yellows then a red in the 44th minute, Torres had one yellow in the 42nd and Brown scored for United in the 34th! – So you’ll be chearing at the moment!)
Then on heading home after a sweet victory
you’ll go grab some more beer and quite possibly food.
You’ll then return here, approve the comments and send me the prize!
Hi Lee,
I guess you are watching Manchester United Match.
Btw Lee, I had sent you 3 support tickets and one of the tickets is more than 2 weeks old and had yet to get a response from you!
Hope to hear your response soon!
Hi Lee,
Awesome tip by the way. You’re right, that’s really one of the best features of Wordpress. I love being able to load up a few weeks worth or a month’s worth of posts and just “set it and forget it”.
I actually added a post on my site recently about a plugin that adds a little calendar to the area you have the image of on your site. So you can see which future dates don’t have posts scheduled without having to go back to the Manage–>Posts page.
Check it out:

I’m going to guess that you were at the Manchester United vs. Liverpool game at Old Trafford.
I get all messed up by what time it actually is across the ocean, but yeah, that’s my guess.
If so sounds like it was a good game for Man U.
you are at the Manchester football game
at Old Trafford to watch the Manchester United football game
Well Lee,
Yet another typical performance from a referee at Old Trafford! What can I say, I’m used to these experiences as a Liverpool fan…
No knocking Nani’s goal tho!
Anyhow, just a reminder though to let you know who posted the FIRST comment me old fruit
You are at the Manchester United soccer (football in England) soccer match.
Thanks for the Wordpress tip!
All this stuff about the footy has to be true. As is the obvious truth about the pint. The one thing not mentioned yet is that awful sounding burger that you like. Is it available there?
Since it appears your side won, I am guessing the pints are continuing. You really do have to get some sleep before you get back the grind and all the special things you have going on.
Wow, there were a lot of people here who had my card marked!
And winner is….
Nath who said

Indeed I was in the pub…I had a cold beer and a juicy burger!
I’ll send you a nice prize by the end of the way
Thanks everyone else for joining in, although I’m not sure why this thread has so many Liverpool fans on?!
Althouh now seems like a good time to mention the fantastic 3-0 victory
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Lee McIntyre
Yay! Hope you had a good time at the game Lee, from the reports it sounds like a great one to have been at.

Have a good weekend!
I have a problem with the Post Timestamp utlity. Once used to a post the Time is staying the same even when you make changes on the post. On other post where the timestamp was not used the day and time of the post are changed on every save. This appear also in the Sitemap. I think this is important and I am wondering how to change the date on the post with timestamp originaly.
