Another great freebie, Lee. . . As a teacher myself in the US, I understand the importance of learning styles as well. With eBay putting a “cap” on eBook profits, a multi-media approach is basic to survival of your business. We CAN survive eBay challenges!

Hi Lee,

Great video. Fully agree with you!

Just one comment… Many marketers do not have their own products but have loads of ebooks, audio messages, articles, etc. with Private Label Rights.

So… Even if you don’t have your own product you can for example take an ebook for which you have PLR’s and create audio messages, videos, articles, etc. based on the content of the ebook.

This can be a quick and easy way of creating your own product(s) that will set you apart from other marketers.

Note: You always have to check that you are allowed to do this. With most PLR products such as ebooks it will not be a problem.

All the best,
Francois du Toit

Good video, Lee, with some important words for thought.

My preference is ebooks and written information which can be referred to in the future.

It is sometimes an advantage to be able to go through the material several times and be able to use certain areas of it for reference.

Age and backgrounds also play a big part in the type of material that you prefer especially if you are not very technically oriented.

Thanks for the good material that you produce.

Hi Lee,

Thanks again for another informative video, you have made some very interesting points, some i agree with and some i have different views on.

Because you are a trained teacher, and when you were teaching in schools, you had to cater for all types of people within the classroom situation, you have no choice in the matter, you have to teach everyone within the class regardless of their ability. And as you say, we all have different methods of assimilating information, so therefore you have to supply the information in the various formats to try and appeal to everyone.
As I said, you have no choice in the matter.

But as Internet Marketers we do have a choice, and we usually choose to go down the path of less resistance or choose to do something we are either good at, or like doing the most.

And while it would be great if all marketers could turn their hand at producing all types of multi-media product, and therefore undoubtedly make more money in the process, it’s simply not as easy to do, as it is to say ! . . . . . . .

I’m sure I am not alone in saying, many people just simply don’t like to do everything themselves, may be because they cannot produce good copy, or not like the sound of their voice, or for what ever reason. So in those cases, It would be better to farm out the things you don’t like doing, and concentrate on those that you do .

As you say some people like reading, others prefer to listen or watch, so in my view, I would say to stick with what you can do best, and concentrate on that, instead of trying to turn your hand at everything and trying to be a jack of all trades, and a master of none.

The same goes for producing your own product. If your not really interested in producing a product in a particular format, then this will clearly become evident in the finished item. So why force yourself to do something you may hate doing, just in the hope it will appeal and please everyone on your list.

Also, I think your forgetting a crucial point about list building, and that is, all of the people who subscribe to yours or any list, where initially attracted to it, simply because of the way it was produced or the content within the page………. Just as a badly written squeeze page or one with terrible audio/video content, would not get anyone to subscribe.

For example:

It’s now become the standard to attract someone to your list, by dangling a carrot and offer something for FREE. If your going to offer a free report or Ebook, then you are simply going to attract someone who likes reading, likewise, if your squeeze page has a good video, then that would have been the deciding factor or trigger method of attraction.

Even with this video you have here, your personal passion or format choice, is not video.

Subconsciously you have shown your personal preference without even knowing it.

Here’s the psychology part !

Just look at the graphics or symbols you have chosen to use to represent the various methods of marketing.

1. Video – a rectangular box, not dissimilar to a TV

2. Home study – a oval shape, an all-round type of product containing all the elements for learning at home.

3 Audio – angled/slanted like a audio waveform

4 Ebook – The Heart…… this is ” Your passion” , your preferred method, the one you LOVE doing the most.

I myself just hate reading and writing ! – and that’s probably why my preferred choice is to work with video or audio,

Many of you will now be thinking, what a load of old Crock, what planet are you on man ? ………. but this is just the way i see it, and the way my thought process works.

Overall I agree with what your saying, if you are capable of pulling it off by yourself.

But I think it will only make more people even more despondent than they already are, thinking that now, they have to do everything themselves, a jack of all trades, just to make it in Internet Marketing, which is far from being true.

hi there, you have made some really good points in your video. if you have products to give out to the world it helps a lot to be able to supply it in different formats. people do have different learning styles. It is something that really needs to be taken into consideration as it will increase profits – as you stated.

Hi Lee,
Yes, I totally believe in your idea, of having more on your list for website sales. Yeah, got some good ideas from your video.
Thanks Again

Hi, Lee,

Excellent reminder about learning styles. Thank you for sharing the results of your reader poll!

Here in the U.S.A., the majority of people have functional illiteracy, a statistic I found quite shocking.

Audios and videos would suit such folks better than something they had to read.

Warm regards,

Marty Nicholas

Hey Lee, Great video, chuck full of info that is very helpful. Why don’t we think of this ourselfs? It’s funny how we neglect the simple things in marketing.
Keep up the great work!

As a minister and Christian Education Pastor, I have to consider all of these methods of teaching. Whether teaching a Wednesday night Bible study, preaching a sermon, or teaching a Sunday school class.

Each aspect has to be considered. I have taken this to task on my blog because I know some people are not going to want to just read my ramblings. I can engage them by giving them a video or two (posted this one for example).

People criticize the church when they introduce such elements into an atmosphere of worship, but when we have a chance to encourage someone through various means other than a verbal sermon, then why not engage them where they are. Jesus taught using various methods (though primarily through stories).

So why not try to engage more than one element for learners. We do not have to get all four areas given in the video. We can take one and learn it and then become proficient at it. Then as we get better at it, we can look into adding a second or a third or all four.

Great video and provides a lot to think about.

Thanks!
David

Lee- this video was absolutely one of the best I’ve watched in a while. It’s brilliant in how simple it is. I can’t believe I never noticed this before hand. Thanks for pointing out the obvious…which, for me, is often the hardest thing to see.

Cheers mate,

Brad Spencer
