Hi Ron

I agree that it was unlikely to be a ban, just one of those things like you say. We're back now though and that's the main thing.

Thanks for the comment :)

I doubt very much it was a ban. Google is contantly changing the filters, so pages go in and out as they adjust. I've seen it happen so many times I've lost count.

Just one of those things.

Usually if your banned it will only show your index page, least thats the case with Yahoo.

Haha? What King?
I am still a newbie at all these.

The really strange thing is I didn't completely vanish. All my pages were banished from the index except about 5, and those pages lost their rank in a dramatic style.

For example, I was even on page 4 for the term "Lee McIntye"!

Hi Brian - I agree that they like to make us sweat. I have an image of a mad controller sad stroking his cat in the Googleplex, flicking switches while laughing to himself!

Hi Deimos

It feels good when they put it back doesn't it?!

I have a classroom management site with some nice ranking, and then one day that went too, before coming back 3 days later.

Happy is not the word as I got all my traffic for that site from Google.

Just looking at your site and you are the Entrecard king!

I have experienced this myself, twice.
(Well, twice as I noticed it two times, since I did a search for those two terms)

First time it happened was when I searched for the term "hellgate london vs guild wars"

Originally, my site would always come out no. 1
But shockingly, for a short period, that particular url of mine disappeared from the index.

My main site is still in the index though.

A few days later, it was reinstated, before it was reinstated, I posted some questions up in the Google forums, the replies were not exactly
useful though.

Yeah, I was furious when it happened.
However, I was also very happy when my index got reinstated.

Okay, the second time, happened more recently.

The Google search term "Entrecarder" would again yield my site as no.1 on the search index.

Again, it too disappeared from the index at one time. Since I experienced it before with my "hellgate london vs guild wars" article, I choose to be optimistic about this matter, knowing that it would be reinstated eventually.

And to my joy, it was back, my site is listed as no.1 for the Google search term "Entrecarder" once more!

Oh! What a glorious day it is!

Whoops, I think I have wrote too much.
Ought to stop now.

Cheers, mate. ;)
Have a great day, yo! :D

Hey Lee,

It's happened to me before in totally different niche market.

I'm not sure why, but my honest opinion is that Google likes making webmasters sweat for a little bit!

What search term did Google take away from you? Or was it your entire blog was listed when you searched for the blog on Google?

All the best,
Brian Jinks

Glad you got one over on the beast Lee! :P Maybe Google was just 'updating' you and it caused this to happen.

Anyone here work for Google and can maybe find out? I'd be interested to know more too...

I also couldn't help notice that the comments section looks different. A new feature you've added? 8)

Thanks
