Hey Lee - couldn't agree with you more... and just now I received another email from a marketer using the phrase as justification for the item he was promoting. I get at least one or two every week from different people tossing that expression around as the "reason" for flogging their wares...

Obviously THEY have no understanding of building relationships!

One an even sadder note, I've also been subjected to two broadcast emails this past week from people saying to me to get off of my R$$ and click the link in their email, because they don't want people on their lists who don't do anything with the "valuable" information they send out.

Nice way to treat your list eh!

There are nicer ways of cleansing out people who don't read or buy... the simplest is to start a new list and advise the old subscribers to signup for that if they are interested in continuing.

Cheers

Brilliant Lee.

I agree whole heartedly that it's the relationship you have with the 'people' on your list.

I don't usually buy anything from the list I am on because the contacts are virtually non-existent unless they are trying selling me something.

I can't remember the last time I got an email from a list I am on where the email was informative without selling or just a note to say how their kid's birthday went.

There always has to be a push to sell.

Oh I don't mind the sell either but if the relationship isn't there I find it hard to pull out my pocket book.

Yep, I can totally grasp what your on about. I hated all newsletters. I presumed that they were all the same, just over the top with sell sell sell and "Time is running out YOU MUST BUY NOW".
Until I discovered your newsletter, it changed my mind to the point that I have now started my own newsletter with Aweber. But I keep arguing with my self about the Aweber vs Feedburner thing. Is Aweber REALLY good value for money?
