totally agree, also if you dont believe in yourself, how can you be motivated. If you were 100% sure it would work you would work like a maniac until you reached your goals.

    Hey Lee

Well said. I’d like to share a couple of quotes with your readers that I heard when I was getting started a few years ago that made a difference to me and the growth of my business..

“Successful people Do what nobody else Wants to do”

“You don’t have to get it right.. you just have to get it going!”

I’ve never forgotten those and they’ve proven to be right many times over.

    Hi Lee,

Great post and a good reminder to recalibrate perspective for achieving success. Thanks for the supportive message–it’s easy to feel isolated in the Internet Marketing arena, and if you fail at something, there’s not much support to keep you going.

All the best over the holidays, and here’s to a prosperous 2009!

Same for me, what finally got me started was an article I read, and it was literally saying: “make money with your crap”.

I started with a more than ugly website, but it made a lot of money.

    Powerful video Lee, thank you!

In fact I think it was meant for me! I replayed it again as soon as it finished…

Quite a few home truths there…

I used to be a teacher too; I used to hate the paperwork; I walked out too etc, I won’t go through the whole list!

You trained to be a lawyer; I trained as a Physicist - I’m sure neither of us went through a whole load of doubt and worry about following these professions

Why does I.M. seem so much harder than other professions?

Yes we are pioneers…is that it?

Anyhow, great time of year for the sharing and motivation

I’m part way through “Beginners Mastermind” and this is encouraging me to keep going!

    All The Best

    Very nice Lee, as always.

I can definitely relate with some of your experiences… I remember when I created these 2 products… I was already doing the math and expecting high from them. And I said to myself “This is it”. But after few days of promoting… then weeks.. then months of waiting, I didn’t even earn 10% of what I was expecting. :( In other words, I failed… but that didn’t stop me from going forward.

I’m still new to internet marketing but newbies like me really gets inspired by your thoughts and advices… keep them coming Lee.

    All the best.

Thank you Lee. What a great video and content! I think you hit the nail on the head of every doubt I’ve ever had since I started my online business. I’m reminded of a quote I heard sometime ago.. “The definition of Insanity is to keep doing the same things you’ve always done BUT expect different results.”

I’ve been self-employed for the last thirty years and have created and sold many successful businesses in that time. I’m now semi-retired but I still have the desire to do more than sit back and collect on my so-called “Golden Years.”
I’m extremely excited about creating a successful business online and will continue until I do so.

My latest mantra is gleaned from Barack Obama’s words, “Yes You Can” which of course I have sized down to “YES I CAN!” Keep up the good work Lee and I’m still a very avid fan in spite of finding out that you are a mere mortal.
    Respectfully,

    Rod Jellison

    Hi Lee,

It’s unfortunate that too many people never achieve what they’re really capable of because fear and procrastination hold them back.

The only way to truly achieve happiness and success is to face your fears head on.

    Have a great Christmas.

I have to say, it’s not very often I’ll hang around for the end of a video that’s nearly half an hour, but this was an exception.

Good work. That’s my favourite kind of content, open the mike and see what happens. That’s when the valuable stuff arrives.

You either act out of inspiration or desperation and all that. It works both ways.

Thank you Lee for sharing your feelings with us. I have recently joined your band of followers and I am greatly inspired by your experiences and generous nature.

Certainly, for those of us new to internet marketing there are often times when we doubt our abilities and prospects.

I must say that you are a great help to me in understanding the process of online marketing and obviously you have found your calling.

From what I have discovered about you, you deserve your successes to-date. In my opinion I believe that you will continue to a much higher level. It is nice to have a down-to-earth UK Internet Guru in the making!

Thankyou for freeing me from trying to explain the unexplainable to those around me.

I wish you the very best for your new projects in 2009 with both your on-line and off-line families.

    Hello and Thank you Lee,

Too many times the sales letters make it sound like “do this and do that and your bank account will be full tomorrow!”

Thank you for being straight and level with us and allowing us to see the “real” way it all works, not just the Utopian, sales letter way.

    Here’s a quote I read every morning;

“Success is more a function of consistent common sense than it is of Genius.”

Thank you! For your honesty, integrity and inspiration.

It is interesting that your ‘day of reckoning’ was not something planned by you. I am looking for ways to build my own ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ into my projects, because doubts do slow you down. It helps to know that someone as successful and self-motivated as you has had to contend with the same.

Will come back and report when I find the answer!

    Kind Regards, Anne

    WOW

Thank you to everyone who left a comment here, and the others who sent me a supportive email.

I DEEPLY appreciate your messages, and I want to personally thank you. This wasn’t an easy video to make but I felt it was an important message to share.

I’m just SO SO SO happy so many people found value in this…

@ Nick - spot on. Once you BELIEVE you really will find the energy and desire to work like a trooper!

@ Dave - those are two very powerful quotes that I plant to pay close attention to. Thank you for sharing :)

@ Jerry - glad to help. Dealing with doubters isn’t easy and I’m pleased I was of some assistance.

@ John - everyone knows I have to make money with my business, but the truth of why I give so much free content is I’m DEEPLY committed to helping as many people as possible succeed (my friends say it’s an obsession!)

Glad you found some value in the post and thanks for posting.

@ Lisa - I’m so glad you found some value in this message. Keep pushing and keep fighting. Failure is simply the consequences of stopping trying. And you’re not going to do that now are you?!

@ Franck - ha I bet my first site was uglier than yours! Maybe we should have a contest sometime?!

@ Alex - I feel your situation. My Law Degree was actually quite painful… but usually only after drinking too many beers and then falling over somehow :)

Seriously - DON’T stop. I’ve succeeded NOT because I’m “brilliant”. I’m not. I’ve succeeded because I’m FAR too stubborn for my own good and refuse to be beaten.

Now I want you to show the same determination, and please get in touch on this blog if you get stuck. I’m here for you.

@ Alvin - thank you for the nice comments. By the way, Alvin is from tendollarbanners.com and designs most of my my banners, and is one of the most talented designers I know (PLUS he’s great to work with too which helps)

@ Steve - I’m looking forward to the JV Requests. Make sure you copy this comment into your JV email because I’d like to look at it personally, and even if it’s not the one for me, I’ll give you some tips for how to improve your offer (by copying this comment James will KNOW to make sure I see your email). To the 23rd Decemeber!

@ Rod - I love your mention of the word “excitement”. Most successful people I know are EXCITED about this stuff.

I love online marketing. I REALLY really do! Keep that passion and it will serve you well :)

@ Larry - thank you for the nice comment!

@ Jeff - and if I might add the fear is never as bad as the reality (well usually it’s not anyway).
Facing your reality is something you must do before you succeed.

@ Scott - yeah like all my videos that was totally unscripted. It was supposed to be 10 mins! Oh well! When when there’s more content there’s more content :)

@ Justice - glad you liked it and I’m happy to be of some help :)

@ Peter - YES get stuck in. The fastest way to learn is to do, so just dive in headfirst and make sure you learn from each outcome. Go for it :)

@ Jackie - Never give up. IF you never know when you’re beat then you can’t lose. Just keep plugging away, learn from each success/failure and BELIEVE!

@ Peter - well I’m definitely not a “guru” nor do I ever want to be one! When I was a teacher I never wanted to be a headmaster. I just wanted to be good at what I did and make a difference. I’m really happy you enjoyed this message :)

@ Kerri - I guess sometimes it’s hard to freely admit self doubt. Everyday there’s something I’m unsure about.

BUT the key is to push through the fog and keep your eyes on the goal. I’m serious when I say that if you believe you’ll end up taking the actions that will massively increase your chances of success.

@ Rog - That’s a brilliant quote. In fact that is going on my fridge. THANK YOU for sharing!

@ Anne - My day of reckoning was created by my ex boss. It was a magical day, and even now I’m stunned by the transformation from bad day to good day.

My boss was actually just doing her job, as was her entitlement, but her management style REALLY clashed with mine.

She was an amazing teacher, an okay administrator, and a totally lousy manager (in my opinion - it was her first few months in the position).

BUT even though things looked bleak on that Friday I’ll always be grateful that I suffered that pain.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THE AMAZING COMMENTS!

    Lee McIntyre

Just listened again on Warrior Forum. Yes, you were right to put it out to a wider audience, and it bears listening to again.

On 6th January it is Epiphany. The word now also has the meaning:

‘a moment of sudden and great revelation’.

It comes from the Greek word epiphainein, meaning ‘reveal’.

That 8th of June was your epiphany, or moment of revelation.

Have a great 2009 everyone, and if you need an epiphany, I hope you get one.

    Lee,
I was very moved by your testimonial. I actually did quit my day job in September ‘08 to pursue IM full time even though I have never made a singe dollar at it. I told myself that if I believe in myself, if I truly believe that I can make this thing work, then I only have one choice. Stop doing the thing I hate doing (day job) and get busy doing what I really want and love to do. Internet Marketing.

At this point I have had no success. But, I have learned a lot about what doesn’t work.

I thank you for sharing your story as it has given me a renewed understanding that with belief and focused effort, success is attainable.

    Thanks,

definitely agree that it’s definitely necessary to believe in yourself when you’re setting out to make money online.

Especially when so many people, friends, family, loved ones etc think you’re crazy.

It seems like every setback is even worse because so many people are expecting you to fail.

But it’s that mental toughness and belief that will make us all successful this year in 2009.
