What Are YOU Working Towards?

I bobbed to my local pub tonight for a very quick drink at the end of the day, and the conversation quickly turned to work, work, and more work. Why is it that so many people like complaining about their job so much?
Surely if they dislike it that badly they’d be better off just blanking it from their mind and enjoying a nice cold beer instead?!
Anyway, a friend was talking about his goals for the year, and how he was determined to achieve them. Now, his goals were as boring as achieving another on the job promotion, but listening to him talk certainly got me thinking.
He knew what he wanted to achieve, and this alone was enough to give him the extra motivation to push through the pain and work like a beast.
When I think about my Internet Marketing career so far, it becomes obvious to me that when I’ve had a clear target to focus on I’ve been at my most productive and my most profitable.
I remember in August wanting to make the decision to become a full time marketer, but being worried in case I just wouldn’t cut the mustard. I was scared that disaster would strike and that I’d be forced to live a life eating cereal for dinner, and bread crusts for breakfast.
That it would all go wrong and that I’d end up sat in a corner rocking back and forward while quietly grumbling to myself over and over and over. I’m being silly of course, but I’m sure you take my point.
I wanted to become a full time marketer, and I knew that I had to get my income up to a certain level by a specific time in order to be able to do this, and this clear goal gave me the energy to work like a beefcake.
I was an absolute machine, and I remember that my hands hurt at the end of each day from so much typing!
Having a clear goal in your mind can help you find the conviction to make the choices you wouldn’t always choose, and the energy and drive to find bundles of energy you never knew you had.
So here’s my question…..
What is YOUR goal? What’s driving you on? What one thing do you want to achieve that will help you find the determination to go out there and get it?
I’ll tell you mine of course….I want to go back to Skiathos and hire this jeep again….

But this time I don’t want to only be able to afford to hire it for 3 days like last time (paid for on my credit card). This time I want to hire it for three full weeks and I want to enjoy the first holiday of my life where I haven’t had to worry about maxing my credit card or running out of cash.
I want my business to become more automated so that the sales continue even when I’m sat in my red jeep enjoying the view, and I want this to happen by June of this year.
As silly as it sounds, this picture has helped me through some tough times, and whenever I feel that my motivation is wavering, I know that the red jeep above will pull me home.
Man alive….I love that jeep and just looking at it is making me want to start writing my next newsletter!
Enjoy the content here at Lee-McIntyre.com as much as you can, because I’m having June off work to go drink Mythos, drive a red jeep, and swim in the sea.
So that’s my goal. Now what’s yours? Post in the comments below and I’d love to hear what you have to say…

Lee, I can fully understand the love affair with a Jeep I have one, and they are the best cars out there in my opinion…anyway, I have full faith that not only are your goals are doable, but that you will go past the target with ease.
My first goal at the beginning of the year was to make Powerseller in 90 days, Well I am almost there so it looks like I will succeed, now my new goals are to be able to pay my ebay fees ( they are so high) and get my salespages to convert, then once I have that going it is time for a Grand Cherokee and a holiday to the USA, my sons want to meet a Transformer..lol…that bit might be a bit harder
I am not sure Optimus is real..but dont spoil it for my kids..
So that is where I am now, I know you will do it, your so genuine and you will be rewarded big time for your efforts and kindness
Have a good one

My goal is to get beyond my fear and actually implement the strategy I have been forming over the last few weeks. And then to repeat it and create a steady stream of income.
Simple, I know, but I am actually taking steps today to implement it. Have fun in June.

Good on you Lee. If there is anything I can do to help you achieve your June 08 goal let me know. In the mean time my goal, or promise to myself, is to have developed and be selling at least 10 information products, to be selling (affiliate) a similar number of related and complementary products/services with the intention of being able to do this as my “full time” job. All that by April this year!!!

Hi David
I know exactly what you mean about the fear and I suffered from this once. Implementing what you plan is the way forward though, and fingers crossed you’ll get there.
Please let me know how you get on.
Hi Brendan
Thanks for the offer and the same applies in reverse of course.
I like your April plan - sometimes you have to think big and if you’re super productive and focused then this is more than possible.
Please also let me know how you get on…

Hi Annne
Jeeps are great aren’t they?! And transformers? I LOVED them as a child and am now singing the theme tune to myself!
Well done on the Powerseller target - keep pushing and let me know how you get on

Hi David, yes i know about fears, I have one it is called ” money”…lol..I have so little of it, that it gives me major headaches in many areas, but i am working on it…I dont know how your dealing with them, but you might want to check out a really nice guy called Noah St John, he has a website called permission to succeed or something like that..it is about why we fail with so many things and has helped me a lot.
Lee…I loved the old Transformers, my sons hate them, only the new metal ones are HOT now..lol..
Powerseller, well i just discovered today my relists did not happen, i got a stack of failed relists which explains why my sales died the last two days and i may miss the 90 day target but I will get it in the next few days…

Hey Lee,
Sorry mate, but if I was earning > $20k a month, I think I’d be aiming a bit higher than a Jeep in Skiathos
“You can take the lad out of Manchester, but…”
But seriously, hope it works out for you. I need to set some realistic but challenging targets - and try to achieve them on top of a full-time job and 8 month old twin boys. In your situation I reckon arranging three weeks away from your office will probably be the hardest part.
Cheers,
Zander.
